In Kutai Kartanegara Kingdom, the noble title used by royal family is Aji. Title of Aji is used in front of the name of the royal family members. The noble title of Kutai Kertanegara Kingdom acknowledge the following titles:

Aji Sultan
It is used to designate the name of Sultan for the royal relatives.

Aji Ratu
It is the title used by the Queen.

Aji Pangeran
It is used by King?s son.

Aji Puteri
It is used by King?s daughter. The title of Aji putri is equal to Aji Pangeran.

Aji Raden
It is a title one level above Aji Bambang. This title is given by Sultan to the noblemen of Kutai who were previously entitled Aji Bambang.

Aji Bambang
It is a title one level above Aji. This title can only be given by Sultan to the noblemen of Kutai who were previously only entitled Aji .

Aji
It is the title for descendants of noblemen in Kutai. This title can only inherited by noblemen in Kutai. Woman who is entitled Aji and married common men could not inherit Aji title to her descendants.

Note:
If Man enttiled Aji married to a women from noblemen society in Kutai or from common people or other tribes, then his children have the right to be entitled Aji. However, if a woman entitled Aji married to a man who is not descendant of noblemen in Kutai, then her children has no right to entitled Aji, except the woman entitled Aji married to an Arabic descendant (Sayid).

If a woman entitled Aji married to a man who is Arabic descendant (Sayid), then the children have the right to have the following title:

Aji Sayid
This title is inherited to the son of a woman entitled Aji who married a man of Arabic descendant.

Aji Syarifah
This title is inherited to the daughter of a woman entitled Aji who married a man of Arabic descendant.

Note:
The title of Aji Sayid or Aji Syarifah is equal to common Aji. It means that this title is still below Aji Bambang or Aji Raden.
